most people i know (on teadeef and elsewhere) are pretty good about using other posts in a thread to gauge how long their post should be. i think we can probably leave length open-ended for now (if it becomes a problem then add a rule/guideline) but i do like the idea of making a list of rules/guidelines for roleplay including POV for certain areas, maybe a note of what "rating" the board has, what things are allowed or disallowed within the public roleplay setting, maybe set a flexible character limit (not like, characters as in length of post, but how many characters you can have on the forum), that kind of stuff.
(hahaha capitalization. my in-character posts will be properly capitalized, i pinky promise)

ELSIE THE BANNER IS AMAZING AHHHHH <3 <3 And those are all good ideas, Kheisa. Though since it's TDF everyone is going to be AT LEAST 13, so things like mild language we shouldn't have to worry about. Also if there's like... excessive gore or violence or anything we could add a sort of warning at the beginning of the post if anybody is particularly sensitive to that.

I know in the past proboards has a rule about mature content being on the board. However, I haven't run into any problems unless someone reports it. We could do a thing where people put [m] at the start of their thread name and at the top of the first post in the thread can list content/trigger warnings if there are any?

aasyla, an excellent idea! we're probably all fairly adept at trigger warnings, yeah? we could have a thread where anyone with a particular trigger they'd like specifically warned for (aside from the basics, self harm, gore, etc etc, i'm PRETTY SURE we shouldn't need a rape tw but we might need a sexual assault one if we get any meglike demons) posts that and if your thread or post contains content that should be warned for, we put the content/trigger warnings easily visible at the beginning of the first post or at the beginning of the post in question (both would probably be preferable; admins can edit stuff into the first post of a thread if a RP partner is busy or something).
so if we're starting this friday we should probably all get character sheets done and an idea for a rp! i know steve's got a drafted demon character sheet; maybe they can post that and we can use it as a base if they're okay with that? MAN I SWEAR I PRESSED RELOAD ON THE MAIN PAGE BEFORE POSTING HERE, GEEZ. HELLO STEVE'S CHARACTER THREAD. so we can use that format as a base? personal touches and flourishes can be added later or before; whatever works. C:
really to be honest our initial roleplay doesn't need to be something plot-driven; i reckon that would be fun but unless (and maybe even if) we try to smush the timeline of self/possessed/mog into the timeline of supernatural so ministers of grace ends just as season 8 ends (which we might be able to do if we discuss it a bit) we'd probably all end up being at different parts of the country/world, right? even just the daemians would need something big to pull us all together, let alone the fallen angels and monsters and demons and such. so what we could do instead is do a thread sort of of intro posts just for fun-- little one-shots that show who the character is and what they do and such (outside of a controlled environment we should be able to show rather than tell). alternately if anyone has any idea why all these characters might be together, it would definitely also be fun to do full-on actual interactive roleplay; i just can't think of anything right now.
on a slightly related note i picked up a book called "weird carolinas" (iirc) that's essentially ghost stories and strange happenings in north and south carolina, so i could probably use that to conjure up a haunting or monster or something to that effect for, idk, the intro post or future roleplays.

I didn't think any was really important enough to announce, but I'm trying to make things are nice and Spn-y as possible. I also changed the buttons for formatting posts, but they didn't turn out too well, so I'll remake them as soon as I can.
That tw system sounds good. Should that thread be stickied in the beginning of News and Announcements, or is there a better place for it somewhere else, you think?
I agree that starting separately is probably easiest, unless we come up with some uniting event that is dealing with the fact that it is Friday the thirteenth. Are there any lore that isn't just "it's bad luck"? Some apocalypse perhaps? I was also thinking the best time to start might be in the moment the angels are falling? Since it seems season nine will continue exactly where season eight left of, it isn't going to be particularly weird in the timeline. Or maybe it's better to start a bit later when all the angels have managed to find vessels and stuff?
Sounds like an awesome book! This is going to be so much fun.
I've been thinking about the angels though. When Anna fell, she was born as a brand new human, but when Castiel falls, he was still in Jimmy Novaks vessel. Do you think this might have to do if the angel, while falling, can find a vessel or not? Castiel already has his, so he stays in it, whereas Anna didn't have one, and probably didn't have time to find one, so she was born as a human instead. Based on the trailer it seems most of the angels that are falling now will be in already grown vessels, but do you think some will be born like Anna? (That's probably boring to roleplay, but more for general wondering?)

I've been digging around but can't seem to find it. i reckon it's a bit hard to find so no worries! go under "plugins" on the ACP to "manage" and click on the spoiler tags plugin, then tab over to "spoiler settings." the first text input should be for the button on the posting page. :] re: tw system, yeah, hmm, we should probably have a rules forum. we could change news & announcements to rules & announcements or something, then sticky the threads that are rules? or just create another subforum up here for rules/guidelines. re: starting tomorrow, i guess we won't need character threads yet if we won't be interacting with each other, but i would still recommend everybody get them up fast! steve gets a gold star for being on the ball. i did a bit of digging on friday the 13th (read: read the wiki article) and the prevalent theory is that it's just because friday is seen as an unlucky day and 13 is seen as an unlucky number, both of which I will research further. the "stress management center and phobia institute" in asheville NC (yes, i'm serious, that's a real thing) says fewer accidents happen on friday the 13th because people tend to exercise more caution being as it's considered an unlucky day, but i'm thinking that perhaps doesn't take into account the nature of the accidents that DO still happen on the 13th. we can say it's not necessarily an UNLUCKY day, but it's sort of like a big sigh the world gives every once in a while (according to wiki, at least once but not more than three times a year) where the bad guys get bolder. sort of like the full moon but for ALL monsters and demons. demons trawl bars looking to make deals, all the monsters are out (but... secret...), that kind of thing. so there's a LOT more work for hunters than there usually is-- you know, to prevent that accident level from skyrocketing! so what we can do tomorrow is have some roleplay posts of our characters either hunting monsters or avoiding hunters, which hopefully should give them all a good setting for character introduction in show-don't-tell mode. AHH I WANT TO TALK ABOUT ANGELS BUT I HAVE TO GO TO BED TO MEET WITH MY PSYCHIATRIST IN THE MORNING SO I'LL MAYBE EDIT THIS OR POST AGAIN TOMORROW GAH

Yeah, I doubt the News and Announcement subforum will have a large amount of threads, so it's probably neater to change its name and add all rules and guidelines in it, instead of giving them a whole new subforum.
Oh, I like it being like an all-moster full moon. And the angels will be falling at the start of the roleplay, then?
Aha, I'll go finish my character profile now. Out of curiosity, how many are planning on playing themselves and how many are planning on playing another character?

I'm willing to just start with myself as a character because that (hopefully) won't take too long to write a profile... Hehe... we do need to do that right? But I would also love to play Sam or a canon character if they end up being needed, so just lemme know.
Like Jessie said, I think I'm gonna have to see how all of these wonderful plot points work together before I jump in with a totally new character. I'm also willing to roleplay a character that is needed to move plot or somethin'.

I was just going with SP-verse, and I'll gladly contribute to fake!TDF threads. We could put out a call on FB or something to see who'd be interested in playing more informational roles in hunting from TDF, who'd go back to their old lives, who would also be hunting, etc. that way our knowledge is the most accurate and complete.

I was just rereading Kevana's amazing stories and the thread on TDF, and I felt the need to summarize things. 'Cuz I don't know about everyone else, but I like having a simple guide C: GENERAL DAEMON WRITING GUIDE{Secret}SPEAKING (bold-type face) - Daemons don't open their mouths to speak. - Daemons can speak to their humans privately. (italicized) - Daemons can be heard by angels, demons, other daemons, and daemians/forumers.
APPEARANCE - Daemons are visible to angels, other daemons, and daemians/forumers. - Appear to be INTERACTIONS WITH THE ENVIRONMENT - Daemons and their people feel pain when they are distanced from each other (similar to Pullman's ) - Daemons and their people feel pain when grabbed by another force or hurt by another force - Daemons can injure demons - Daemons can "sniff out" demons - Daemons might be able to interact with physical objects if they practice enough (think of ghosts on SPN) - It is still not known what daemons can do to angels
SETTLING/FORMS - Daemons can choose their form, anything goes (mythical, fictional, domestic, etc.) - Daemons who are deemed "settled" can still change form - Some "settled" daemons don't change form for whatever reason - Changing form seems entirely dependent on willpower (either the daemians' choice or that of the daemon) - Describing form changes:
KEVANA'S PLOT for HUNTER/DAEMIANS:
{Spoiler} - Some forumers suddenly find that their favorite pets have been possessed by their daemons - They then start to exhibit flu-like symptoms, some end up hospitalized - Authorities and others possessed by demons begin to attack the forumers- killing them and their pet-formed daemons - The Trickster (who placed their daemons into their pets in the first place) ressurrects the dead and their daemons separate from their pets - Forumers group together under a protective bubble via the Trickster as the hellhounds surround them - After a lot of time-traveling resets, the forumers realize one of their own has been possessed by a demon and betrays them. - Crowley eventually offers them a deal to forget about their daemons so they'll fade away, then he'll take care of the hellhounds and cerberus - The forumers refuse and create a plan to try and destroy the hellhounds - Though armed with iron, powders, salt, and holy water- what ends up destroying the hellhounds and demons are the forumers' daemons - Then, Crowley releases the mother of all hellhounds- cerberus. - The forumers attempt to trap cerberus, but end up splitting her into three parts. - Four months later, forumers with separated daemons end up being very close to unexplained murders and start seeing demons
THREAD BRAINSTORMINGHUNTERS - International hunters have very different techniques and approaches to hunting different monsters. - Most hunters stay FAR away from the Winchesters. - Lots of disorganization... some may be unaware of angels' existence or daemians DAEMIAN!HUNTERS - Most daemians are pretty good demon-hunters because of their daemons' abilities - But, fighting monsters and other non-demon entities is a lot tougher and requires research - Daemians who continue to be hunters should have some kind of reason to do so. At the end of Kevana's plot, they were given a choice to return to their normal lives without semi-corporeal daemons or keep their daemons and continue to hunt. - Daemians would probably have a difficult time explaining to other hunters how they got into hunting- since their daemons are invisible to other hunters. - Daemons can identify angels and demons ANGELS - Those who have fallen have lost their grace (something similar to a daemon) - They CAN see daemons, even though they don't have them. == If ya'll want I can make a post that's more official with all this info- I just wanted to run it by everyone first to make sure I have everything straight- or if we need to discuss anything C:
