Farley fidgeted on Molly's shoulder, unable to comfortably stay still. He changed forms every few seconds or so - now a pied wagtail, then a fruit dove, a warbler, a cactus wren - it wasn't until he tried to switch to african ibis that Molly decided to draw the line, scolding him for flapping his wings in her face as he struggled - and failed - to balance his massive, clumsy form on her shoulder. He sheepishly switched back to pied wagtail - keeping the form this time, but irritably flicking his tail. The talk of dæmons being possessed made him uncomfortable - or worse, of the humans being possessed and the dæmon having nothing to do but stand back and watch helplessly. He shuddered, fluffing up his feathers. Even though he had to nag Molly to do her homework, to do her laundry, to leave for class on time, to... eat dinner... he had grown fond of her, he supposed. He'd prefer it if she didn't get possessed by demons. Molly could tell he was getting agitated, and voiced what he was thinking. "If it is a demon, shouldn't we take some... precautions? Research or something? I don't know about you guys, but I haven't encountered any demons since Farley left my cat-" "The daftest animal I have ever encountered in my entire life,"Farley interjected. "You might think you want to know what he's thinking, but believe me when I say you don't. Most of it is focused on trying to get people to pay attention to him, and the other bit is focused on getting overly excited at moving bits of string." "Shh, he's my special baby and you know that," Molly scolded. "Anyway," she continued, "I don't know what would happen if we were to run into a demon now, with our dæmons in their current forms. Especially now with Mary, I just... sort of have to wonder." She fidgeted in her chair, taking a sip of water. It was strange to see everyone sitting together at the same table, dæmons lighting up their corner of the restaurant like Times Square. Under any other circumstances she would have been relieved, but now she couldn't shake the gripping anxiety in her chest.
